The new year is always a great time to set intentions and plans for the year to come. Here at Rio Vista Wines, we think setting New Year’s Wine Resolutions is an especially great way to kick off 2023.

When it comes to wine, we’re all guilty of sticking with what we “know” or what we’re already comfortable with, so we challenge you to say “Yes!” to new wine experiences this year! Try a new varietal, visit a new winery, sign up for your first wine club or attend that event you’ve always wondered about. The great thing about wine is that even if you tried a varietal or blend that you didn’t love previously, both our palates and wine change over time, so a blast from the past could easily become a new favorite!

Although widely known in Italy, Barbera is encountered much less frequently in the United States. Our versatile Barbera is particularly delectable with dark spice and red plum on the nose, cherry pie and blood orange on the palate, and a long and satisfying finish you will probably be asking yourself, where has Barbera been all my life?!

Quality over Quantity

We know the $10 bottles at the grocery store are tempting, but what if you prioritized quality over quantity this year? The utter bliss of a perfectly balanced glass of wine from your favorite winery is worlds apart from the experience of choking down a cheap wine from the bottom shelf. Taste Over Time

This year, treat yourself to a wine experience that you can enjoy for years to come! Find a wine you love that is slated to age well (we recommend our Malbec,) purchase a case and open a bottle every year on the same day to see how it develops over time. Each year, write down what the wine is like on the eyes, nose, and palate and then compare your notes over time. S’mores at the Cabin

January 1-31, 1-6pm | At the Cabin

Visit Rio Vista Wines at the Cabin any day in January and toast your own s’more while heating up with a glass of hot spiced wine. Open daily from 1-6 p.m. This is a great activity for the whole family! Your kids will thank you for bringing them to Rio Vista Wines at the Cabin.

Winterfest Sledding and Bonfires

January 13-14 & 20-21, 12-5pm | On the River

Join us at Rio Vista Wines on the River for both weekends of Winterfest! We’ll have wine tasting, light snacks, beautiful views and tons of fun. We’ll be offering bonfires and sledding at our location on the river during both weekends of Chelan Winterfest. Bring your sleds and hit the sledding hill hard at Rio Vista Wines. This will be a time enjoyed by the whole family.

Winterfest Wine Walk

January 14, 12-6pm | The Starry Owl

What more could you want than wine tasting in snowy Downtown Lake Chelan? This quintessential Winterfest experience gives you a chance to taste the award-winning wine being produced in the Lake Chelan Valley, featuring some of the newest wineries in the valley! Winterfest Wine Walk, open Saturday, January 14th 12-6pm, allows you to stroll through the downtown boutiques as you chat with the winemakers and team while tasting their select choice of wines.
