Our Vineyard

Rio Vista Wines is a small-scale vineyard and winery, producing approximately 600 cases of wine yearly.
The property consists of 7 1/2 acres of prime land on the western shores of the Columbia River, 10 miles north of Lake Chelan. Three acres are planted in grapes.
The white varieties raised are Chardonnay, Riesling, Gewurztaminer, and Pinot Gris. Syrah, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon make up the reds.

To create the specialties of RioVista wines, John has earmarked certain plants in several rows to receive even more intense attention during harvest and processing.
This wine will become his Vintner’s Select with the focus on structure and complexity.
The vineyard is planted on a southeast facing slope at approximately 600 feet elevation.
The rows are planted in a north-south orientation which allows for optimum sunlight to reach the grapes. The vines were planted in 2000 and 2004.
